Welcome to Music Festival.gr. Give us a brief Bio.
Sevi were formed in 2010 by Svetlana (SEVI) Bliznakova (singer and songwriter) and Rally Velinov (songwriter, bass player), who previously collaborated for some years on a number of solo projects. After some changes in the initial crew, the band hooked up with Pavlin Ivanov (drums) and Delyan Ketipov (guitars)
The band has 2 studio albums, one DVD and many concerts in Bulgaria and abroad.
They were chosen to open the shows of bands like Europe, Tom Keifer (Cinderella )and Nightwish.
Their new album “The Battle Never Ends” was very well accepted in Bulgaria and abroad. They got some great reviews in Metal hammer, Fireworks, Powerplay magazine and many others.
2017 was very strong for SEVI. They were opening band for the great Europe at Arena ArmeecHall – Sofia and were part of the line up at festivals like Midalidare and Hills of Rock along with names like Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Doro, Evanescence, Epica, Guano Apes and many others
They have just released a new single and video “The Call”
Name your 10 favourite bands and singers.
What is your fave music era and the favourite album so far?
I think that there is good music to be found in every era,
I don’t want to put frames on that. I have favorite music from the times of Bach to Beyonce
There is always something good to hear if you are open to the new ideas.
Which would be your advice for new musicians?
Follow your heart and don’t listen to anyone who will say” This melody is not good”. This is your music, your story, do it your way!
Who were your childhood heroes?
I loved to read biography books and I admired people like the boys from Beatles, Freddy Mercury and Tina Turner who made a big part of the music history. I read about their lives and the way they went through struggles in life and I thought that I want to follow my dreams and live my life the way I imagine it to be and to be always honest to myself
Any cool new bands you want to mention..What are you listening to lately? How is the rock scene in Bulgaria?
Well, I find new bands and artists almost every day. Recently I found the guys from Raven Eye( UK ) and Desert ( Israel ) They are really fresh
As for Bulgaria, I think we are having some kind of resurrection here with many new bands and new festivals. I think the good times for rock and metal are ahead.
What does Sevi mean to you!
This is my life.
What do you think of the demise of the legendary Chris Cornell?
I still can’t believe it’s true He had so much to give to the world. I love his music and his voice and I hope he had found peace and the answers he was looking for with his music.
He left a big gap in the music world.
What are some things that made you proud through your music career?
Sincere letters from fans, telling how our music helped them or was part of their special moments.
Being on stage in front of 60.000 people in Zajchar ( Serbia ), opening for Europe, opening for Tom Keifer etc.,
Moments like these remain..
Tell us your favorite stories from the road and the bands you liked the most sharing a stage with.
I remember pushing our car up in a tunnel in Italy. It was really funny, one of those moments that make the tour really rock n roll like.
As for the bands, I have mentioned Europe and Tom Keifer above. We had the chance to meet also Andi Deris and Dee Snider and the guys from Nightwish and Evanescence. Gus G, Pretty Maids and Doro.
All of them – amazing artists that you can learn from.
We even recorded a song with the guitarist of Doro – Luca Princiotta He made the guitars to one of our new singles “Destiny”
I am thankful I had the chance to meet these people.
